Grin Technologies Rear Torque Arm V6 – Durable & Flexible Motor Protection. The V6 Torque Arm by Grin Technologies offers industry-leading strength and adaptability for securing both front and rear hub motors. Its innovative design includes a hardened stainless steel insert with a toothed (splined) interface, allowing for 50 possible rotational positions. This flexibility means you can easily align the torque arm to fit almost any bike frame geometry.
Key Features:
-
Strong 3mm stainless steel arm paired with a robust frame clamp
-
Hardened 17-4 stainless steel splined insert provides up to 80% more spinout strength than conventional torque arms
-
Includes inserts for 12mm, 14mm, and 16mm axle diameters to fit a wide range of motors
-
Suitable for front and rear wheel motors, both left and right side installations
-
The frame clamp attaches securely using dual hose clamps with a redesigned, smaller footprint for easier installation and removal
-
Open-ended slotted hole on the arm allows quick wheel removal without removing the torque arm
-
Swiveling frame bracket accommodates nearly all frame shapes and sizes
What is a torque arm and why/when is it needed? Â
A torque arm is an additional piece of metal hardware that connects to the axle of your hub motor as well as the frame of the bike. This is to prevent ‘spinout’ of the axle due to high values of torque present at the axle on higher-powered hub motors. 250W motors are unlikely to need such a device, but it is recommended you use a torque arm on the higher-powered motors that we sell, especially the G0900 750W Bafang beast that we supply! The amount of torque at the axle on these motors when you open the throttle is pretty extreme! It can be powerful enough to widen the dropout width, allowing the axle to rotate, spin itself out of the dropout, ripping the motor cable out and probably throw you off the bike. So get a decent torque arm. The V6 by Grin Technologies is a very decent torque arm.
Specifications
The V6 Torque Arm uses a separate hardened metal insert with a toothed interface, allowing for flexible positioning in both front and rear motor installations. It anchors to the bike frame with two hose clamps and features a swiveling frame bracket to accommodate almost any bike geometry. The hardened 17-4 stainless insert can be rotated in 50 different positions and provides 80% more spinout strength than conventional torque arms.Â
This torque arm works for almost all 12, 14mm or 16mm axle hub motor needs. V6 features:
- Works for front and rear mounted motors, both on left and right side as neededÂ
- Flexible splined insert concept that allows 50 angles of orientation so you can easily position the arm parallel to a frame/fork component
- Splined inserts made from hardened 17-4 for up to double the spinout strength compared to most regular stainless steels
- Inserts included for 12, 14 and even 16mm axles.
- Made from 3mm stainless steel, the arm strong and is firmly held in place by our equally flexible and strong Frame Clamp
- Arm held in place using open-ended slotted hole for easy wheel removal
- Frame Clamp is held onto the frame component (fork/frame) by strong hose clamps.
- New Frame Clamp design has smaller, neater footprint and a redesigned mounting point for easier installs and removals.
